Welcoming New Businesses to Hanover

Lydian Stone Brewing Company

Lydian Stone Brewing Company is bringing new flavors to the Hanover brewery community. Located above Greer’s Burgers on Chestnut Street, owners Keith and Maria Stevenson have been brewing drinks rooted in history and a passion for community. The couple opened their Hanover location in May 2025. 

Focused on a more English-style brew, the brewery serves up drinks that are sweeter and maltier than others. “Yeast in the United States creates a more dry and bitter finish,” Keith says. “We make more of a dessert beer—it’s very smooth.” The 83 Hoptane Imperial IPA is a top seller, and their menu also includes a variety of porters, lagers, stouts, mixed drinks and more. Passionate about his profession, Keith has a deep knowledge of international brewing history, sharing stories about Scotland, England and France.

Lydian Stone Brewing Company is community focused, from partnering with local companies such as Greer’s Burgers to crafting beers that benefit local fire companies and K9 units to participating in community events. “We love this area, we love the community and we love our fellow brewing companies,” Keith says. 

Future plans for the brewery include redesigning the bar area to allow customers to sit at the bar and enjoy the gorgeous view while sipping a delicious drink.

Snacktown Skate, Snow & Surf

Just a couple of steps from Hanover’s Center Square lives Snacktown Skate, Snow & Surf, a business dedicated to fostering a new culture within the community. Built from owner Scott Guinto’s longtime surfboard-shaping business, the sports shop blends industry experience with a welcoming, small-town feel. 

Since opening in October 2024, the shop has been an outlet for locals with a passion for skating, snowboarding and surfing—despite being miles from the coast or mountains. Top sellers include Hanover-made Snacktown hoodies, Fahlo Animal Tracking Bracelets, skateboard decks and Blenders sunglasses. The shop also offers skateboard setups and tuneups, surfboard ding repair and hand-shaped custom surfboards.

“What really sets our shop apart is the personal connection we have with the people who walk through our doors,” Scott says. “Because we’re small, we get to slow things down.” Whether helping someone choose their first board or fine tune a setup, the focus is on listening and matching gear to individual style and budget.

A typical day starts with good music and an open-door mindset. Some days are busy, others quieter, but the vibe always stays positive. “We are truly grateful for all our customers,” Scott says. “Owning and running a small retail business is not easy, but having the support from family, friends and customers is the most rewarding.”

Dirty Paws Pet Salon

Dirty Paws Pet Salon is more than a grooming shop—it’s a place where pets get treated like family. From gentle handling to a couch to relax on after getting pampered, the dog salon promises a clean and happy pet every time. “Dogs are family,” says Saramelia Murray, owner and dog groomer. “I pride myself on clients being comfortable leaving their pets in my care.” 

Previously located across town, Dirty Paws Pet Salon opened in its new location on Baltimore Street in January 2025. The dog salon offers a full range of grooming services, including baths, ear cleaning, nail trimming and breed-specific cuts. Drawing on her background in cosmetology, Saramelia approaches each appointment with an eye for style and individuality. “There are so many body and hair types. I don’t just shave dogs and give them chicken legs,” she jokes. “My clients trust me to make their pets look good.”

Saramelia’s family is her motivation to keep working hard and growing. In February, she welcomed her husband Gregory to the team as a dog bather, allowing the business to serve more clients while maintaining its personalized approach. With a focus on safety, comfort and quality grooming, Dirty Paws Pet Salon is committed to sending every pet home clean, happy and looking its very best.

Bakery Kneads

Bakery Kneads is redefining the saying “made with love,” as owners Kalena Bartoszak and Katara Vasher set out to make food feel good for everyone. “We started this for our kids,” Katara says. “My son can’t eat certain ingredients, and both of our kids are picky eaters. We opened our store to share our experience with everyone.” 

Bakery Kneads found its home in downtown Hanover, opening in December 2025. With its launch, the local community was introduced to a variety of baked goods with a special ingredient: fresh-milled flour. “With fresh-milled flour, you get 44 vitamins and minerals your body needs for the day,” Katara says. “Not only is it more nutritious, but it tastes better, too.”

The added vitamins and minerals make all the difference, as they work for your body rather than against it, she says. “You eat store-bought cookies, and then you feel stomach pains or exhausted,” Kalena says. “The fresh-milled flour doesn’t work like that—it fuels you.” Kalena reflected on her experience with gluten intolerance and how, with fresh-milled flour, she was able to enjoy bread again. 

Beyond artisan breads, the bakery sells cookies, brownies, cinnamon rolls and more, along with offering educational classes to help customers better understand the benefits of fresh-milled flour. They are looking forward to expanding their offerings with the opening of their new location on Carlisle Street in the spring.

“Our goal is to help people build a healthier relationship with food,” Katara says—one loaf at a time.

Salinas Mini Mart

On Chestnut Street in Hanover, Salinas Mini Mart is built on a deep respect for culture and a desire to share it. Opened in October 2025, the restaurant and mini mart brings international flavors under one roof, led by co-owners Diana Bastida-Salinas and her brother Edwin. “Every culture does something differently,” Diana says. “Our goal is to bring those cultures together for people to try something new.” 

Inside the mini mart, shelves are stocked with snacks, beverages, fresh produce and specialty items from around the world. Familiar brands often come with unexpected twists. “Take chips, for example,” Diana explains. “We have the same chip brands as other countries, but not the same chip seasonings.” With new products arriving regularly, there’s always something different to discover.

In the kitchen, the focus shifts to bold, carefully crafted dishes rooted in tradition. Customer favorites include the baked potato, street corn and machete—each made with a focus on flavor. “We make dishes you wouldn’t find anywhere else because we blend authentic flavors with our own style,” Diana says. 

Diana’s dream is for Salinas Mini Mart to continue growing and sharing new flavors with the community. Her passion is fueled by seeing people try new things and creating dishes people love.
